Website Visitors

Like most website operators, Voyages in Parenting collects non-personally-identifying information of the sort that web browsers and servers typically make available, such as the browser type, language preference, referring site, and the date and time of each visitor request. Voyages in Parenting’s purpose in collecting non-personally identifying information is to better understand how Voyages in Parenting’s visitors use its website. Voyages in Parenting also collects potentially personally-identifying information like Internet Protocol (IP) addresses for logged in users and for users leaving comments on our blogs. Voyages in Parenting only discloses logged in user and commenter IP addresses under the same circumstances that it uses and discloses personally-identifying information as described below, except that blog commenter IP addresses are visible and disclosed to the administrators of the blog where the comment was left. If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.

Voyages in Parenting may collect statistics about the behavior of visitors to our website. For instance, Voyages in Parenting may monitor the most popular pages on our site or use spam screened by an automated spam detection service to help identify spam. Comments

When visitors leave comments on Voyages in Parenting we collect the information shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Comments and other content submitted to Akismet anti-spam service are not saved on our servers unless they were marked as false positives, in which case we store them long enough to use them to improve the service to avoid future false positives.

Media

If you upload images to Voyages in Parenting, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Cookies

A cookie is a string of information that a website stores on a visitor’s computer, and that the visitor’s browser provides to the website each time the visitor returns. Our site uses cookies to help identify and track visitors, their usage of Voyages in Parenting website, and their website access preferences. Ads

Ads appearing on Voyages in Parenting may be delivered to users by advertising partners, who may set cookies. These cookies allow the ad server to recognize your computer each time they send you an online advertisement to compile information about you or others who use your computer. This information allows ad networks to, among other things, deliver targeted advertisements that they believe will be of most interest to you. This Privacy Policy covers the use of cookies by Voyages in Parenting and does not cover the use of cookies by any advertisers

How Long We Retain Your Personal Information

Contact form entries are retained for six months.

Analytics records are retained for one year.

Client information and customer purchase records are retained for ten years.

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on Voyages in Parenting (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What Rights You Have Over Your Personal Information

If you have an account on Voyages in Parenting, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal information we hold about you, including any information you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal information we hold about you. This does not include any information we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
